Water injection into Diesel cylinders was tried in marine engines during the 1920's. The conclusion was it wasn't worth the complication. http://www.trucktrend.com/how-to/expert-advice/1105dp-water-injection-or-intercooler
Reducing EGT with Water Injection
Injecting water into the air intake stream is one way of helping control EGT. If a truck is overfueled, water can help cool combustion

You are correct Ed, the cylinder and cyl head does not have the surface area to flash water to steam.
Take a look at this page and you can see what im doing.https://flashsteam.com/steam-engine-project-part-3/

Hi Rick,
I appreciate your forward momentum I really want to demonstrate the 4 cycle flash steam engine. From what ive seen it will be marvel of engineering.
What i'm trying to demonstrate is no boiler and using the engine itself as a flash steam generating unit.
I have spent alot of time working to make a whole system that is safe. I will succeed and have much experience with the hit

I am going to throw this out there once again...
self cooling DC motor
We have a DC traction motor, that can drive an EV directly it has a turbine component to cool winding's for full torque as the motor is spinning liquid cooling thru centrifugal force is forced thru the winding cooling in a helix arrangement.. The working fluid steam or Freon can drive an auxiliary electronic alternator to

Im wondering about possibly getting a grant. I have solicited for a grant before but they want like $3000 to get the thing going. What I do have is all the previous development. Im sure I can do it little by little without the grant. I dont know maybe I need a partner. The class of development is way out of the hobbyist class

I see that most steam projects are not being funded. I have gotten 90% of this done. Its needing another $15,000. But have no idea how to get there. I know whats needed from experience. but its hopeless. I feel a sense of my help is going to bad health.
Who knows maybe Independent development is worthless.

Back to turbo electric cars. I think you need to consider the electric part as the transmission. Why not use one of the modern constant velocity mechanical transmissions?
When I was an active member of SAE I saw the innovations to hybrid cars they found a way to drive the car using 3 phase AC synchronous motor built in the automatic transmission built into the cl

Thanks for the reply Ed. The idea is that a electric traction motor has full torque from battery's and has good driveability. Years ago there was the EV 1 that used DC current to run. It was soon decided that a DC traction moter overheated. Then came the second generation AC traction 3ph drive transmission. This is what one out for the current generation EV's... But overheating was controlled by

notice these patents Self cooling motor system
self cooling motor system
I am the author of this patent, it can use water or freon to cool the winding's of the armature, Using centrifugal force so no pump is needed for circulation. meanwhile you have immediate torque to drive the vehicle with 12volts power electric motor (its about the size of a 5 gallon buc

$300 is not that a steep hill to climb... If I sold my injector with the semiconductor switching array with a water cooling pump cooling system it would cost $2000

On my next solid fuel burner I am going to add a vaporizing burner using kerosene, Most likely for that in going to add a windshield washer pump controlled by a speed controller. I haven't figured out the size for nozzle yet and how many loops for the tubing. I always run my burner in the shop and can control things easily since the corn burner is a solid fuel burner. This will just be a intermitt

Thanks Peter and Steve,
Ricks suggestion that in may be a hybrid cycle was very well received on fieldlines.com (I own the site) in the steam section.
This page has animation of the cycle. steam animation
I still have to correct grammar on that page.

The only problem is that your wife figures out what you spending money on
I think the meets make the whole development worth the visit...

Hi Peter, I try to keep the Y2 to a minimum I also own a another site that is a forum Fieldlines this forum has a private side and contains the master playlists. https://www.fieldlines.com/index.php/topic,143238.648.html
You have to be a logged on user to see that section, I think you would have a good time there and Peter B is open as username. Its all about renewable energy...

This is why I use Solidworks, I had some parts made a year or two back, I just sent them the files and they made the parts. Im not sure who mentioned another cad program that was cheaper.
It took me years to catch up to the learning curve.
Kyleborg if you have the drawings you will need to copy and draw them.

Very interesting. The thing is double expansion is but there has to be a smaller diameter high pressure stage then a larger diameter (approximate twice the size of the high pressure piston) low pressure piston stage. What im thinking about is a triple expansion marine engine.
If you had that, then there has to be a crankshaft with two rod journals 180 degrees out of phase.
Im just think
