The Steam forums are for sharing. The person who owns the information decides what they wish to share, and when. If this is not enough information for you, PLEASE take your conversation private ( preferably email ), and spare the rest of us from needing to decide whom is in the right.

We get many attempts to log in using common usernames and random passwords.
We get hundreds of attempted spam registrations some days. We are also visited by robots that scrape the content of the forums, which uses bandwidth. Other scrapers are looking for email addresses. Some visitors are looking to deface the site.

Repeatedly needing to log in:
Checking the forum logs, it appears some users need to log in every time they come to the forum. Unless this is the way you want it, logging in is usually good for weeks to months for me, unless I specifically log out, or delete cookies.
Anyone that gets tired of needing to log in every time they come to the forum can PM me and we can work out a solution.

Hi Greg,
Send Karl Petersen a PM to find out how it is being handled, I am out of the loop on this.
Best,

Hi Greg,
Nice to hear from you.
Old thread or new, real world experience trumps theory, and adds to our knowledge, so your report is much appreciated.
Any reports on the performance of the Barrett subsystems are welcome, if, and as, you find time. Hint!

The club was given Cyclone stock for specific use, which I believe was covered in one of the Bulletins several years ago, possibly less. This makes the club a stockholder. For any other details about the stock contact Tom Kimmel.
SACA has not invested in any project(s).
Meanwhile the Admins here do not wish to get involved in hearsay, or denigration by innuendo, it isn't productive.

Scotty,
Ask Harry your question.
Those that know the answer probably signed a non-disclosure agreement, and can't say.
In the interest of full disclosure, The Steam Automobile Club of America has a horse in the race.
Any speculation in public on these Forums by those that don't know may be subject to deletion, censoring, editing, or whatever you wish to call it.

I probably will not get back to this until after the steam meet. If I forget, please remind me.
I seem to be over committed at the moment, trying to get a presentation for the meet together, and a bunch of other things club related.

Keith,
I created the hp required spreadsheet in a hurry for this topic.
My intention.
Inputs
Enter the flow in cfm required by the fuel flow, the pressure needed to overcome boiler internal resistance, and the efficiency coefficient.
Outputs:
Hp needed to accomplish the work.
For a given hp, show the watts required.
For the watts indicated, show the current at the stated voltages.

Andy,
Attached is a spreadsheet calculator for fan/blower hp required, and a photo set up showing what you get with about 52 watts of power at the cfm flow shown in the ebay ad. I gave the blower the benefit of the doubt and let the coefficient of efficiency (motor input and blower) be 100%.
*Spreadsheet updated (08/24/2012) with description of how it is used.

Here is a screen shot from a spreadsheet calculator I am working on. It has not been verified by anyone yet to make sure I have not missed missed something obvious. Fuel weight and air : fuel ratios have a range if you check sources on the net. The numbers I used show in the photo, with the exception of divide by 60 (min).

Andy,
(used 745 watts per. hp.)
For a given blower, if you double the hp you can get twice the volume, or get twice the pressure, not both. The blowers I show are between 60 & 80 % efficient.
First the claim is 3psi, this = 83.1 inches of water (27.7" per psi) at 435 cfm using 56 watts.
More facts, the Garret turbos all need to turn 30,000 to 175,000 rpm, efficiency in the 6

Andy,
>> That turbo blower does 435CFM @ 12 volts,4.6 amps, 3PSI << = to 56 watts
There are two products and shown below that deliver 300+ cfm @ 3" water.
They require in the neighborhood of 1/2 hp to do so. = 373 watts Turbos are not 6 times as efficient as centrifugal, or vaneaxial

Andy,
Without a graph of pressure and flow showing amp draw, the numbers provided are not enough to decide if this is a good blower for a particular burner.

How does that compare to the GE patent for the engine that Tom K. has?

Jim,
There is a reason for limiting the size of attachments, "Backups". All photos, pdfs, doc files, etc. are stored in the database along with the messages. During the approximately one year I allowed larger file sizes, the Phorum backup doubled in size. The Phorum backup, even compressed is > 360MB and takes about an hour to download.

After several hours of looking, I was unable to locate the original photos, or the original Bulletin source files scans. While I am sure I have the scans, they may be on the 386's hard drive, or backup tapes. The hardware for accessing is problematic.
The scan of the Bulletin is at home. I will try to get it to you tonight, after snow cleanup.
Attached are two files from Berrien Springs 2009.
