Pipe and tube bending.
This is a pipe and tube bender I built about 50 years ago. It has served me well for the many years. I make dies as I need them and bend very tight bends with very little distortion. I have also made similar benders in miniature for small tubing when making models.
I am sorry to say I never made drawing for them, this type of bender has a die inside the bend (not inside the tube/pipe) as well as out side at the point of bending holding the pipe round as it is bent.
If the wall thickness ratio to the tube OD is too small you can't make a smooth bend under the best of circumstances.
A rule of thumb some use for bending tubing is to divide the wall thickness by the tube OD. If the answer is .07 or less then it must be done only with an internal mandrel on a high end bender or some luck can be done with filling the tube with sand or salt and in extreme cases Bismuth.
