Thanks for pointing this out.

Your link to the read page has http:// www . steamautomobile . com
and
the link to the file has http:// steamautomobile . com . Apparently the domain checker is looking for an exact match to the allowed domain name... Go to this link,
http://steamautomobile.com/phorum5214/read.php?1,7280,7282

Verify no www in the address bar, go to the picture and download, or view. Meanwhile I will disable this "feature" until I find out if it is behaving as designed, or is a bug.

Edit: Can't disable it yet.

As a follow up, the behavior is by design.

Normally when you come to the Forum from the Home page, the url is re-written (by the server) to remove the www. and redirect you to [steamautomobile.com]. All of the links within the forum are without the www. This is specified in the configuration.

Also specified in the forum configuration is that files may only be linked from within this website. The referrer url with the www. is not the same as without, so it is disallowed. This prevents direct links to pictures from google (as a referrer), etc. from working. This is intentional so people actually visit here.

A change in the server rewrite rules and forum configuration will cause everyone to need to log in again. The old links directly to the forum won't work as expected, and every time the old links are used (bookmarks), you won't be logged in.

There is a plan to replace the Home page, and eliminate the need for the server rewrite of url's. The nonstandard forum url (without the www.) will go away, but the log in will need to be done again by everyone. I only want to do this to you folks once.winking smiley

Thanks, it works! Will keep in mind to delete "www" or use the search to let the phorum find its own threads if a link is not working properly.

Hi Scott,

I received an email notification for:

[steamautomobile.com]

The post is missing or has been deleted. Any ideas?

Thanks,
Keith

The post has been hidden, not by me.

Perhaps Ken or Karl will weigh in on whether they did it, and why.
