I decided to reassemble my 735 engine with the original style independent roller bearings instead of swapping everything out to use the modern bearings I have on my spare engine. I read that the outer bearing races were originally machined round with shims in place so that shims could be removed as things wore. Since mine are already worn somewhat I don't know how many shims to have in place when I reassemble it. The only thing I have read is to not make the bearings so tight that they heat up. With no shims it is obviously too tight but how loose is too loose? Any advice should be appreciated.
Thanks Todd
