The Spring Mini-meet appears to be a "GO" -- at least as of this date. Our expected number of attendees will be below the current state guidelines for meetings and the governor has scheduled a meeting for April 19th at which it is expected that restrictions will be further eased. Given the average age of our membership, I would assume most would be innoculated, by then. Well, I will, anyways.

So far, I haven't had any solid confirmation from the other organizers as to how we want to arrange matters, but pending confirmation I am going to tentatively state that we will be shifting emphasis from technical talks to a less structured event where people are more free to mingle and talk.

The above should not be construed to mean that there will be no technical talks, however. We will be working to tighten these up in response to feedback from the previous meets, and to ensure attendees get "more bang for their buck". It is contemplated that this will be achieved in a few ways, the first being a requirement that the speaker submit an outline of their talk well before the event. This outline will be examined and then, if approved, a scheduled run time will be allocated. When the talk is given, the emcee will be more vigorous in keeping the discussions on track and on schedule.

Hopefully, this process will address prior feedback complaining of drawn-out presentations and/or presentations involving violations of physical law or practical application.

Looking forward to any feedback.

Regards,

Ken

Hi Ken,
Tony Grzyb, Nick Messmer and myself are looking forward to the Fall Meet. Sorry, we won't be attending the Spring Meet as it stands right now.

I sincerely wish all the best to the attendees.

I'm curious if our Canadian friends are able to cross the border...have you heard anything about that?

Kind regards,
Rick Heinig

None of the Canadians plan to attend -- the odds aren't looking good for the border to be open in the next 6 weeks. Probably part of the problem is that the vaccine rollout in Canada is severely delayed, making the possibility of transmission worse in both directions. The rumor I'm hearing is July or August -- but things are changing on an almost weekly basis.

Regards,

Ken

Yeah, but if you read carefully, you will find a stinger in there which makes it unacceptable to most people..

..However, you will be asked to answer a questionnaire about your health when arriving in Canada and will need to acknowledge an obligation to self-isolate for 14 days..
