In 1871 my ancestor Henry Ashton invented a "pop" safety valve that was a breakthrough in boiler safety. For the next 100 years the company made safety valves and gauges for Stationary boilers, steam automobiles, and locomotives. I've been researching the company or the last 3 years and I'm hoping that someone on the site might have some information on the company that I can add to what I've been able to collect so far.
So I hope you enjoy the old material I'm going to post.
The company produced gauges for Stanley Steamers, Winton , Pope-Toledo, White,and possibly more steam cars.

Most all of our older Stanley Steam cars and White steam cars used the Ashton Valve Co. gauges. The really later condensing Stanleys used the Ashcroft Manufacturing Co. gauges. The book "The Antique American Steam Gauge" by Barry Lee David copyrighted in 2003, does a good job in covering the evolution of the Ashton Valve Co steam gauges. It is in the larger 8 1/2" by 11" format and 282 pages. Lots of pictures in the book... What is really handy in the book are the serial numbers on the gauges telling you what exact year the gauge was built. You don't want a newer gauge being used in your older Stanley. With my Ashton gauge collection, I was a contributor of images to this fine publication. With all of the different types of Ashton gauges used in the Stanley Steam car, one never has enough spare Ashton gauges.

At the 2017 Yankee Steam Up, someone gave me a stock certificate from 1877.

The company also offered engine room clocks. They made the clock bodies and the clock works were made by Chelsea, Howard, or Seth Thomas.

Rick as far as I know all Stanley’s used Ashton gauges. Both of my Stanley’s did as you can see by the attached photos.
Repairing them is another matter as I have stated before.
You can retain the gauge case and replace the inners (bourdon tube assembly) from another gauge of the same pressure and one that fits and retain the face, but I have never found a company that repairs a leaking bourdon tube.
I built my own needle puller but you can buy them from watch supply house.
If you can find a replacement inners that fits it’s not two hard to repair. You need to calibrate it, I do this with a manifold either with a gauge tester or manifold of gauges I trust.
As far as what others do I don’t know. But I have never seen any other type of gauges on a Stanley.
