Round world steam car passed me in the 70's

Hi
When I was in my teens living here in Los Angeles, a huge steam vehicle passed my work. This was in the 70's and I never forgot it.
It was most probably the early 70's.
The vehicle was as big as one of those asphalt laying machines. It has solid tires and on top a guy was frantically shoveling something
into the boiler fire. It also had a sign that said it was heading around the world.
I know its a long time back, I've searched the internet but I never did find mention of that machine,
Hope the subject is interesting enough.

You remember correctly, and I remember it too - it still exists - a British Foden steam wagon of 1926 - driven by Brits.
What an adventure!

That must be it, unless something else made attempted to make round the world trip. I have tried to search it down in the past but no luck.
Its really not how I thought it looked, but I really don't have a picture in my mind. Its odd as I was in very city like area, the direction they
where going was not into a good area. I just came out of the store with a soda in my hand and here was this machine stopping at the light
and moving on,
Just to put it in time perspective, President Ford's motorcade would use the boulevard to visit Los Angeles and the police cars where Adam12 plymouths
that had a wonderful sound, later I bought one at auction,
Let me add a thank you for finding that, did you happen to see in the the 70's?

No I didn't see it but read of it at the time or since then.

Must have shovelled a lot of coal!
