This mason type steam engine just turned up and two questions the owner has: Who made it and how many did they make?

One more photo of the mystery engine. Simple, double acting, slide valves etc.

I was unable to view two of the pictures, possibly because spaces were used in the file name.
Form what I could see, it appears to be a marine version of a Mason style engine. Whether it was built that way or modified later is not clear.

Pat,
Need good closeups of the cylinders, front and back. Also detail shots of the rest of the engine. Bore and stoke would help too.
Looks like a very late Mason engine from a Loco surrey, at first glance.

The final verdict is that the steam engine was made by Mason between 1900 and 1905 for the stationary and marine market. Thank you for the emails that helped identify this rare engine. Sincerely, Pat Farrell
