Things to do.
It’s not too early to be thinking of the model engineering show.

I would go to that event all the time, I would display my steam car. Then it was changed to the spring which I liked better more outside displays. Then it got switch back to winter and I haven't been able to go since I'm in florida for the winter.

Yare I’m in Florida now as well.
I’m trying to arrange a tour for our housing area if I can find enough interested. If no it’s a two day trip each way. Well worth going at least for me.

Always things to do. Finally got to where I decided to finish my boiler so I'm cutting out parts from steel. Between cutting torch, milling machine, and lathe. Found a nice carbide end mill just right for boring the tube holes, (in the box of milling bits that came with the machine) But no 1.25" nmtb40 adapter for it. (got everything up to 1"winking smiley so ordered one off ebay. Also found a carbide taper bit that cuts out the weld V's quite nicely. Got a used oil torch set up for preheating weld joints. (picked up several hundred gallons old oil to play with) Finishing the ofeldt first. (designed for 600 psi operating but I'm going to run it at not over 200 since all my engines won't be high pressure capable, unless I convert an IC engine, then I might be able to use it higher) First engine is the westinghouse 1885 design. Second boiler will be small fire tube vertical, got a half inch thick shell for it and plenty of scd 40 pipe, instead of no water leg or a normal stay bolted water leg, think I'll make a water pipe extension on the bottom to surround the firebox since there's a taper to the pipe shell from 16" at bottom to 12" top. (found a water tube boiler design with closed bottom tubes, using small tubes down the middle of them to carry water down. But I'd connect the bottoms with at least small tubing so they would all drain at shutdown.) It'll be set for running at 150 psi but according to the pipe ratings 1000 psi would not strain it. I like a large safety factor and double pressure relief, a regular relief valve and a soft plug that will blow at a bit higher than the relief. 3rd boiler will likely be a yarrow style. Probably run at 200 psi. 2nd and 3rd engines will be entirely from scratch from a pile of scrap metal, by way of the foundry and shop machines. I plan on 3 trucks, from a small one (jeep frame maybe) mid size truck is already here, my retired to offroad 3/4 ton dodge. big one eventually would be an old military 5 ton, cab and engine removed, as well as second rear axle. need a good strong winch on front, maybe a dedicated engine for it, (steam donkey engine) maybe a set of flotation tractor tires like used on spreader trucks filled with liquid weight. That will be the ultimate offroad steam machine, mostly for woods and agriculture support work but an occasional camping trip into some remote canyon is quite feasible. Mystify the occasional fellow offroader with what sounds like an ancient loco steaming through the canyon. That's the things to do plan anyway. From short term to long term. First version may not be far off, but the second and then third will be awhile in coming likely, since I have plenty of other stuff to do as well. Like designing and building generators and motors of nonstandard types and getting ag production going better. Gotta make a livin, but the steam machines can help out with it.

JJTJR,
You are moving to a beautiful place that Rolly and I live about 25 miles from. They have fantastic car shows, modern and antique that fill the streets for blocks with outstanding vehicles. I have tried to get Rolly to take his Stanley EX down there but as of yet I do not beliebe the huge observers at theses meets have never seen a steam car! You could be the first, silently chuffing around and stunning modern folks with the magnificience of 100 year old steam. Welcome to Florida and all that the Villages offer. Maybe see you soon, its great weather down here.

Don't forget the golf courses. Over 50 of them in the Villages with at least 2 designed by world professionals. Also a world renowned Polo field.
I got a good look there as one of my superiors lives there. Or was my superior when I started as I'm in a different region now.

The show was fantastic, I got to see many old friends both from the model club and the steam boaters as well as many steam car guys. Great time.
There were three cars at the show a nice 1901 locomobile an Oldsmobile and one other I did not know.
Saturday was extremely crowded, I brought two models I had completed this past fall and winter.
My scale model of the Herreshoff forced circulation generator and my 1/8 scale 30 HP 1905 narrow frame Stanley engine.
