Hello All,

Can anyone verify this truck as a Stanley? Was this a manufactured one or was the truck cab and bed just added do you think?

It was built from a chopped down SV sedan. That is what Walter had told me. There is another one just about like it in South Dakota in a museum.

Walter also cut new straight tooth gears for the rearend, I got him the 4140 stock for the project.
He did nice work.

Hi Rolly,

Would you happen to know just who was responsible for that hideous SV-252 Stanley?
I just cannot believe that Delling would put his name on such a disaster. That pump drive is enough to send one running to the nearest bar.
Helical drive gears and no thrust bearings, who was so stupid?

Frank Duveneck said it was absolutely the worst steam car on the market. He sold three and all three broke their crankcases within three months.

No Jim
I’ve read about them but I just don’t remember.
When Walter brought what was left of that car home I wouldn’t have believed what he did with it if I did not see it for myself.
