Speedometer Restoration - 1925 Stanley

Good Morning! I am working to get The BettyAnne on the road sometime soon and need some advice on speedometer repair.

This is a Stewart Warner Speedometer and is made from the lower grade pot metal. Needless to say, the wheels do not turn, althogh the speedometer ring does respond to turning the knob.

Who is an expert at restoring these speedometers?

Thanks very much!

Don Hoke

I did a speedo for Barney Becker which took so many hours I did not charge for it but chalked it up to experience. I hope someone has already remanufactured parts from these out of stable materials so they can look and work as they did originally. Whew.

Karl
I also rebuilt one many years ago, I had to build a new gear box on the side to reset the odometer. I found the outer housing at Hershey and had to make the knob gears and shaft
Also had to make the finished ring for the Dash. As well as the new dash. Also disassemble and clean all the parts to free everything up.
It’s not a job I would offer to do again. Photos from my old computer.

Hi Don, You might want to give Russ Furstnow ofFlagstaff AZ a call. His number is 928 526 1343.
He has done speedometer work for me. I just talked to him about 2 weeks regarding one of my speedometers. He aske me to hold off on sending it to him untill sept, as he is very busy putting on a Model T tour out of Kanab Utah.
