The formal name for the burner is the "Hybrid Convection Combustion System"

The burner uses both free convection and forced convection thats why it is called a hybrid convection unit. Although I dont feel comfortable publishing any part of the application, since its non-publish, I think the footage will help others see that it works pretty good. Also, the drawings and art, in the pat application are of a more refined and fully automated unit. Consequently the burner described in the pat application is optimized and has superior performance. The burner you see in the video is a manually feed unit. You'll see it keeps me quite busy if you watch parts 1 thru 8 there consecutive.

I mentioned in the "steam vs electric thread" to Jim that I was considering releasing footage of my burner running. Ive been working on a media platform its alot like utube. I have uploaded videos of the cornburner working there. The footage is relatively recent. Once I received the postcard in the mail saturday, I started to upload video of it.

In the videos, the unit is burning whole kernal corn. But can burn other pelletized fuels just as easy, this unit will also burn hard to use biomass fuels such as only olive cake pellets, without having to mix with other easier to burn pellets, such as wood pellets.

Good work Jeremy!

What flame and burner temperatures are you getting with this burner?

Thanks Bill,

The measurements taken from the combustion stream exiting the afterburner assembly range from 1500°f to 2500°f.

Jeremy,

Since you are burning organic fuel, have you gotten the exhaust checked for anything unpleasant? My local non-compliant air police can be really obnoxious about stack composition. They tried to shut down a barbecue joint recently.

Tom H,

"Since you are burning organic fuel, have you gotten the exhaust checked for anything unpleasant?"

Yes I have, the only presidio "pelletized/densified" fuel approved by the EPA is whole kernel corn fuel. Most think, moisture content of the biomass fuels is at 10% so no problems, as you point out this is not the case with the EPA. What Harry is doing with "Clean Burn" is indeed interesting, those guys have some experience with /in-dealing with the EPA, everybody else is having MAJOR problems. And im not comfortable discussing gasification at this time, since I dont have the problem of biochar with my burner.

One other thing thats worth mentioning.

I recently joined a trade association, what there doing is important. As I begin to focus on other pellet fuel sources besides corn kernels, additional resources are needed. What these guys are doing is getting everybody together- OEM's, Pellet fuel producer's, Lobbyist's and Academia. Five years ago these association groups did not exist. Basically guys like me are looking towards them to deal with EPA issues and other infrastructure matters. Of all the OEMs (burner manufacturers) involved the guys developing gasification technologys are getting the most help. Burners like mine do not fall under that classification. Thru the use of catalysts involved with combustion the technologys are being made both cleaner and efficient. Something simular is being applied in my burner but its not well understood by me. It was sort of a dumbluck type of thing. and a chemist pointed out to me, your fuel is being reduced to suger as its working, thats why you have the secondary combustion and need your afterburner, as you introduce a secondary source of oxygen your completing combustion to a very high level.

This is a better link for the video.

Im still working with my site for hosting the video, but youtubes got me beat hands down, for now.
